The foundation of mindfulness is meditation.
Meditation allows practitioners to slow down and notice their thoughts and breath. In that stillness, it creates an allowing of present moment awareness.
By creating a consistent meditation practice, you sit with the mind and become a witness to not only the breath but of your thoughts. Observation of thoughts creates an awareness of the “thinking mind” and cultivates the ability to let go and not hold onto or grasp. Looking at the thought as an object rather than the reality, you reduce the stress and anxiety commonly attached to them.
